Abstract
A sampling representation, particularly suitable for dealing with elongated antennas, is proposed for fast and accurate interpolation of the electromagnetic field radiated on a cylinder in the near field region and properly exploited to develop a new near field-far field transformation technique with cylindrical scanning. The technique relies on recent theoretical results concerning the nonredundant representation of radiated or scattered fields, and allows one to evaluate the antenna far field from minimal near field data. In particular, the proposed technique allows one to reduce significantly the amount of data needed, without losing the numerical efficiency of previous approaches. As a consequence, measurement time and memory storage requirements are reduced remarkably. Numerical tests confirm the effectiveness and stability of the proposed approach
