Abstract :
3rd generation (3G) wireless networks are expected to provide true wireless Internet services. These networks are designed for multimedia content (Voice, data and video), high data rate services, packet data services and location services. Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) is 3G wireless technologies that provide better speed, security and bandwidth utilization of resources. In present circumstances main constraint of network is to provide effective level of Quality of Service (QoS). For supporting QoS, the UMTS network obliges an efficient QoS method and a hardware platform for providing the demanded level of services on the UMTS network. In this paper, performance of UMTS networks is inspected under the Extended Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP) and Routing Information Protocol (RIP). Results are evaluated on the basis of efficiency and effectiveness of UMTS network under these protocols for analysing which protocol provide better quality for different type of services.
