Abstract :
A reconfigurable multilayer microstrip patch antenna for high frequency is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna is fed with a new coupling method applied in aperture coupling technique controlled by switching circuit which operates at multiple frequency bands above 2 GHz. The antenna uses the combination of aperture coupled technique and stacked patch to increase the bandwidth. Two shapes of the aperture slots are etched onto the ground plane with a purpose to couple between feedline and stacked patch. The waves from the selected activated aperture slots will radiate to particular radiating patch (top or bottom) and achieve the frequency reconfigurability. When the switch is in ON mode, the antenna has a capability to configure its operating frequency at 2.8 GHz and 3.2 GHz during the OFF mode. These frequencies can be used for Wi-MAX applications.
