Abstract
The measured electron-hole pair creation (generation) energies (e-h PCE) for substrate removed Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) P on N array are reported here. Measurements were conducted with both sensor and radioisotope sources placed in a vacuum and cooled to 78 K. The results are consistent with the previous theory of Shockley for the e-h PCE in semiconductors. The measured PCE using three particle types over a large range of energies yield self consistent values for the PCE. For MCT with a 2.63 micron cutoff, a PCE of 2.4 eV is determined.
