Abstract :
This paper describes the experimental work on automation in the drawing offices of an electronics organization. It deals with the development of techniques making use of drawing, measuring and generating machines with particular reference to their use in conjunction with numerically controlled machines. The procedure involved in a design, drawing and model making organization is described and an indication of the form of data passing from one stage to another is given. Based on this, ideas are put forward as to the manner in which the various lists, drawings and diagrams could be produced with the aid of a computer. Consideration is also given to the changing requirements of the modern production shop and also to possibilities for reducing planning and obviating unnecessary transcription of data.
