Abstract
Using a general-purpose multivariate optimization program that we have developed for the design of the fiber-index profile for a given set of several fiber optimization parameters, we have designed and fabricated nonzero-dispersion fibers with a maximally flat chromatic dispersion spectrum, which have shown improved dispersion-spectrum curves compared to those of commercially available fibers developed for the same purpose.
