Abstract :
We present a novel design for slab laser amplifier by lining up multiple single-side-pumped slabs as a laser amplifier chain. This allows a reduction in cost and complexity comparing to the conventional two-side-pumped slab. We demonstrate the design of slab configuration and pumping system, as well as the numerical calculation of temperature and stress distributions. A point design illustrating power scaling including the ASE effect is also described.
