Abstract :
The commenters point out explicitly that the fast search procedure of S.S. Redy et al. (see ibid., vol.SMC-14, no.4, p.661-5, (1984)) does not converge to the optimal threshold if the interclass variance, has not the unique maximum. The limitations of N. Otsu´s technique (see ibid., vol.SMC-9, no.1, p.62-6, (1979)) are also discussed briefly.<>
