The functions of ground preference in carrier-current relay schemes

Warrington (General Electric Company, Philadelphia, Pa.): In addition to the ground preference troubles cited by the authors, an external ground fault has to be cleared before a simultaneous internal fault can be cleared. Furthermore, spurious residual current caused by current-transformer inaccuracy during a heavy internal phase fault can delay or prevent tripping.
