  • Abstract
Some mathematical representations of processes are con-sidered and a general statement made of the requirements for optimization. By assuming that the process output is a quadratic function of the variables it is shown how various approximation techniques can be adapted to sampled systems. Finally a transformation is given, which enables the past history of a process to be of utility in correcting deviations which occur in a process already optimized. It is indicated that thistransformation may also be useful in designing electronic equipment for ease of operation.
