Abstract :
The operation of single loop and double loop video integratorsis discussed briefly and a qualitative measure of integrator performance is given in terms of a simple video signal/noise ratio. A description is given of a set of pulse detectability experiments which have been conducted using a single trace display of the integrator output. A ¿peak level¿ criterion of detection was used in these experiments and the results obtained show that the simple video signal/noise ratio does not give a direct measure of integrator performance. It is concluded that the performance of a video integrator is somewhat better than would be predicted by the use of the simple theory, providing that the pre-detector signal/noise ratio is greater than ¿5 dB. Finally a set of theoretical results are given for comparison with the experimental ones
