Abstract :
Described is an atmospheric correction procedure for Nimbus-7 CZCS data based on multiple scattering calculations in an atmosphere rough-surface model. It is shown that computational effort to process an image is reduced using a data base consisting of the calculated results. Referring to the oceanic data near the Japanese island, it is found that an image of the sea surface processed by our atmospheric correction has more detailed patterning - which represents the intrinsic information of the ocean - than the original image, and optical properties of atmospheric aerosols vary with position in a CZCS image.
