Abstract
The common side-hole (SH) fibers have high-pressure sensitivity K P. Yet, their temperature sensitivity KT is also relatively high. In this paper, the class of certain structure SH fibers of various core ellipticity is analyzed. It was theoretically proposed and experimentally verified that fibers of low core ellipticity have a very advantageous KP/KT ratio, which permits the construction of pressure sensors that do not require temperature compensation. However, this type of fiber can only be used for high-pressure (above 3 MPa) sensor construction because for lower pressures, the beat length is too long
