Some experiments on reading aids for the blind

Discrimination tests were carried out using scanning devices to produce aural and tactile outputs. The use of stereophonic techniques to display sounds from different parts of a character at corresponding points in the inter-aural space was investigated. A two-dimensional display is considered to be a worthwhile improvement.
