  • Abstract
Tactical communications are military communications in which information or data of any kind, especially commands and military intelligence, are transferred from one command, person, or place to another upon a ground zero operation or battlefield, particularly during the conduct of counter attack. Tactical communication plays a vital role in our preparedness towards advert situation for both civilian and military scenario, such as disaster relief, emergency response or even a terrorist attack. To provide tactical communication on demand, we need a system that can operate over wide frequency ranges and compatible with various existing communication standards. In particular, we are more specified about the design of such an antenna for those kinds of applications. In this paper, an Ultra wide band (UWB) antenna with operating frequency ranging from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz was designed and the design of this antenna deals with a rectangular patch with corner slotted with a 2 × 2 mm. The antenna is feed with coplanar micro strip at its geometric center. Simulation results show that the antenna works well in the UWB region and satisfies premier antenna parameters such as return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern and impedance matching.
