Abstract
A scenario of the environment that an engineer of the future will encounter is presented, and some major future trends and their impact on education are discussed. Proposals for an approach to undergraduate education are made in the context of this scenario. Graduate education, continuing education, and industry-university relationship are also discussed.<>
