Rating of electric equipment under intermittent load

Fett (University of Illinois, Urbana, Ill.): It is agreed that the term, “duty cycle,” while simple to understand and easy to use, is inadequate to rate properly intermittent loads of the type encountered in resistance welding. The duty factor as defined by the author is a big step forward in getting at the factors to be used in rating equipment.
