  • Abstract
In the present work, a nanocomposite was synthesised by immobilising gelatin and hydroxyapatite (HAp) on the surface of bacterial cellulose (BC) nanofibres via crosslinking and biomineralisation. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were employed to characterise the BC/gelatin/HAp nanocomposites. It was found that gelatin was formed and enwrapped on the surface of BC nanofibres, and the HAp particles were successively precipitated on the fibres of BC/gelatin composite. Furthermore, the mesenchymal stem cells were seeded on the obtained samples to test the cell compatibility.
