Abstract
We propose a spectrum-sliced incoherent channel receiver using a polarization-independent optical modulator (PIOM). Applying a 12.5-GHz sliced channel that has a 3 dB bandwidth of 0.1 nm, we have the error floor at 9.2×10-4 without the PIOM. With the PIOM, the bandwidth of the received 12.5-GHz sliced channel increases up to 1.5 nm and the error floor decreases to 1.2×10-7.
