Abstract :
This work considers beamforming by a distributed wireless sensor network working in collaboration as a phased-array. Using the worst-case error of the constituent parts of the phase-estimation system, that is, location estimation error, synchronization error, and delay quantization error, a useful operational frequency for beamforming is determined. This analysis approach yields a way to directly consider the impacts of each error source using commonly reported performance metrics. The results are demonstrated analytically and through simulation.
