Abstract
Market operators are relying on demand resources for a larger fraction of the peak demand-fighting "tool kit"-and using these resources more often. In addition to reducing peak load, demand resources are beginning to provide services to the wholesale markets, where they compete with generation supply resources. Demand resource participation will continue to increase with the introduction of new and improved technologies in areas such as advanced building HVAC control systems and local energy storage.
