Abstract :
The social context of the decision making situation as a factor in determining the success of a decision-making procedure is considered. A simple multiattribute, multialternative decision model is used and extended to the multiple-decision-maker situation by a consensus-building technique. It is shown how the procedure works by applying it to a real-life decision situation involving multiple alternatives, multiple criteria, and multiple decision-makes. The usefulness of a social context as a variable in studies of the decision-making process is pointed out
