Abstract :
The presented algorithm can create (M-1) different M-ary variable length codes. Each of the constructed (M-1) codes has the self-synchronising property so that the decoder can always reach resynchronisation within two codewords when an error occurs during transmission. The comparison of the various (M-1) codes is also briefly discussed in terms of the encoder/decoder complexity as well as the resynchronising efficiency.
