Abstract :
A fast algorithm for the modulated lapped transform (MLT) with an overlapping factor of two is presented. The MLT is a promising substitute for the discrete cosine transform (DCT) in transform coding of signals because the MLT has higher coding gains and does not lead to blocking effects.
