Abstract :
Free standing CVD-diamond films have been used to realise simple position-sensing detectors for ultraviolet radiation. It is shown that good detection can be achieved by proper design of the contact structure. Owing to the low absorption coefficient of diamond in the blue/near-UV spectral region, a `semitransparent´ photodetector is also proposed for use in a wide variety of laser-based optical material treatment systems
