Strong Government support from 1982 to 1992 helped Brazil´s process control industry become a worldwide supplier of digital instrumentation. The industry in Brazil is at the leading edge of applications of Fieldbus-based control. The author discusses the development of the industry from pneumatics to digital control and microprocessor based instrumentation
