Abstract :
A disk file actuator servo relies upon an accurate position error signal (PES) for good track following with small track misregistration to give low data error rates. Two concerns that degrade PES accuracy when detecting bursts of magnetic positional information are detector offsets and detector gain differences. This paper shows how to accommodate these two errors in PES detection for minimum degradation of data soft error rates
