Abstract
We investigated the effect of yoke length on nonlinear transition shift (NLTS) theoretically and experimentally in inductive/MR composite heads. An extended (dynamic) Transmission Line Model combined with one dimensional self-consistent magnetization model was newly developed to calculate NLTS for heads with various yoke lengths Both theoretical and experimental results show yoke length reduction has a great advantage in reducing NLTS
