Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of two-point tracking, a special case of the well-known solution to the superheterodyne tracking problem which was presented by Sowerby in 1932. A number of design problems are considered in order to show that the two-point solution is satisfactory provided that the minimum signal frequency is much greater than the intermediate frequency, a condition which is, for example, satisfied by a tuner for the v.h.f. band with the usual intermediate frequency of 10.7 MHz.
