Abstract :
A two-bit switched-line type phase shifter has been designed and fabricated for 60 GHz phase array applications. A body-floating technique is used to reduce the insertion loss of the on-state switch while the off-state isolation is increased by the use of a resonating inductor connected across the switch. The size of the delay path in the phase shifter is reduced by adopting a lumped equivalent circuit realisation. Measurements demonstrate a minimum insertion loss of 8.2 dB with an average value of 8.9 dB at 60 GHz, with a return loss smaller than 12 dB over the frequency range 57-64 GHz.
