Abstract :
The magnetic properties and recording characteristics of longitudinal thin film media with a CoCr37 interlayer between the Co-alloy magnetic layer and the Cr underlayer were investigated. It was found that the coercivities and S/N of the media with a CoCr interlayer were higher than those of the media without a CoCr interlayer. This is because the media with a CoCr interlayer have better crystallographically-ordered layers than the media without a CoCr interlayer
