Abstract :
The state space method is applied to the analysis of a servomechanism to demonstrate how the method can be used to find the repsonse of a proposed system to any type of deterministic input or disturbance. It is shown that linear input signals can be simply incorporated in the A matrix as input state variables. The A matrix for two realistic models of an antenna control system are then developed inclusive of the system inputs. The state transition matrixes of the servos discussed are evaluated. The variation of all the variables in the servomechanism is defined by the transition matrix, without any further manipulation of system functions and leads to a method of solution which is simpler than the conventional manipulation of transfer functions.
