Abstract
Professional life of engineers is strongly formed by complex questions which include economical, ecological or social aspects. Therefore the ability to communicate with members of different disciplines is essential to cope with the multidisciplinary tasks. In the so called `landscape format courses´ engineering students work together with students of the humanities. A theme of multidisciplinary relevance is illustrated in lectures by experts from different disciplines and intensively discussed in student working groups, arranged according to the `problem-based learning´ method. This paper gives an account of work in progress and previous experiences.
