Abstract :
The relative precision in estimating average pulse rates using stochastic temporal and rate codes is compared. In most situations, temporal codes exhibit less uncertainty than rate codes at low Bernoulli probabilities and vice versa. The balance is also affected by asymmetric 0→1 and 1→0 bit error probabilities
