Abstract
Error probability of an adaptive multiuser diversity receiver is evaluated in terms of channel fading rate and the number of code-division multiple access users. Fading-induced performance loss, which leads to the error probability floor, is established for the proposed coherent combining scheme and compared to that of the differentially coherent receiver with equal-gain combining
