Abstract :
A multilayered magnetooptical medium consisting of TbFeCo and an improved dielectric layer is presented. The structure is polycarbonate (PC)/In2O3 (700 Å)/Ti (15 Å)/TbFeCo (400 Å)/Ti (500 Å). The thickness was calculated to be optimum for C/N characteristics. The dielectric In2O3 layer had a strong affinity to the polycarbonate surface even at 80°C and 85% RH. The stability of the oxide-metal boundary, between In2O3 and TbFeCo was investigated in detail by Auger electron spectroscopy. The spectra showed that a small amount of titanium at the contact surface stabilized the boundary
