Abstract
The use of spherical vector wave functions to represent the exterior fields for real problems in scattering, RF heating, and antenna design is considered. The wave functions are used both as exterior solutions and as finite-element-like basis functions in the interior, coupled by minimization of discontinuity at the boundaries. Accurate and rapidly computed numerical solutions of the vector Helmholtz´s equation are obtained in both the near-field and far-field regions
