Abstract :
A vibrating sample magnetometer with orthogonal, biaxial detecting coils was used to analyze a perpendicular magnetic recording medium. The demagnetizing field was easily compensated, since the magnetization vector could be measured. The magnetization reversal mode observed for the resultant intrinsic angular dependence of Hc without the sheet demagnetizing effect is discussed. A transverse magnetization torque curve was also measured and used to estimate the anisotropy distribution of the medium after the exclusion of the demagnetizing field effects
