Abstract
Conical shaped air dynamic bearings (CS-ADBs) are presented as the bearings used for spindle motors of hard disk drive. Numerical analysis was achieved for the bearings using Monte Carlo direct simulation (MCDS) as the flow of air dynamic bearing could be seen to be a dilute gas flow. The change of the pressure distribution from the rotational start to the equilibrium state is shown
