Abstract :
The relationship between zig-zags and disk noise is studied. Explicit formulas are introduced that express the signal and noise in terms of the statistical distribution of sawteeth. An informal derivation for the averaged signal and some intuitive explanations for the random noise are given. The equation provides a basis for studying film disk noise and facilitates the evaluation of media noise
