Abstract :
In this paper we have studied the effect of a guide magnetic field on the free electron laser using pre-bunched, i.e., pre-modulated electron beam. The growth rate of the slow wave FEL instability increases with the modulation index Δ and consequently the gain and efficiency of the device also increase with the modulation index.
