Abstract :
The results of an earlier survey on creepages and clearances in HVDC converter stations are expanded with data from a new survey and on-site interviews at several operating terminals. The changes which have accompanied the development of several additional HVDC transmission systems at higher voltages are illustrated with specific details on external insulation design. A summary of insulation performance and the effectiveness of different maintenance procedures are discussed
