Abstract :
An improved Monro´s (1992) zero-searching fractal coding method is presented. It enables the use of only one affine transformation and sliding domain block structure to obtain the fractal approximation for each image block The method is easier and can better exploit the self-similarities between image blocks. The peak SNR can be improved by 0.6-1.1 dB under the same condition and the encoding can be carried out very fast
