  • Abstract
The sciences of molecular biology, genetic engineering, and DNA manipulation are the tools scientists and artists use. Neither scientists nor artists are expecting to create a human-like creature, yet. However, scientists have taken the first steps to successfully grow bladders and other organs. Artists are also modifying and growing living tissue to create high-concept, highly provocative, and highly controversial art. The questions raised by artists who use the most basic building blocks of life as their media go far beyond their works´ artistic merits. In fact, religious, biological, political, and social issues tend to overshadow the artistic merits
