Abstract
Although the global information system known as the Internet had already been in existence for two decades, as a network, it had not been officially defined until the Federal Networking Council (FNC) did so on 24 October 1995. It provided for a fast new form of personalized communication coined electronic mail, which ultimately led the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)´s Laboratory for Computer Science to create a worldwide broader network technology named theWorldWideWeb.
