Compact bent slot antenna for 2.45 GHz band

Abstract :
A compact slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is introduced. A T-shaped tuning stub is inserted inside a narrow rectangular slot in order to obtain impedance matching with the CPW feed line. The antenna size is reduced by bending the slot. A bent slot antenna for a 2.45 GHz ISM band is designed and experimentally tested. The size of the fabricated antenna is only 18 by 20 mm. Experimental results show an impedance bandwidth of 200 MHz (2.32-2.52 GHz) for VSWR <; 2, radiation patterns similar to those of a monopole antenna, and a peak gain of 2.3 dBi. The proposed antenna is expected to be suitable for application in WLAN, RFID, and mobile handset antennas.
