Abstract :
A low cost rate control scheme is presented to achieve an open-loop rate control for JPEG-LS near lossless coding mode, the forthcoming new standard for lossless image compression. The scheme is implemented by further exploitation of the local texture analysis, designed in JPEG-LS, to indicate the compressibility indirectly.
