Abstract
A new spectrum sliced microwave photonic filter that eliminates the RF degradation limitation is presented. The concept is based on a novel dispersion controlled spectrum slicing technique using a two-dimensional array of LCoS pixels which realises both the multiple slicing and the dispersion compensation simultaneously in one unit. It also enables tuning by means of software control. Experimental results demonstrate the elimination of RF degradation limitations in microwave photonic multiple-tap filters together with almost continuous tunability.
