Abstract :
A general expression for free-running frequencies is developed from the dynamic equations of the nonlinear coupled oscillator array (COA) system via the time domain method. By means of this solution, effects of amplitude dynamics are studied for oscillator arrays with uniform and triangular amplitude distributions. The array with different coupling strengths, nonlinear parameters, and synchronization frequencies are considered in the investigation. Results demonstrate that beam shapes and sidelobe levels (SLLs) can be controlled for the COA using strong coupling.
