Abstract :
At Extempo, interactive characters engage, assist, and entertain people on the Web or in other interactive environments. Our characters have distinctive personas and play different roles in various applications. We call them imp charactersTM because they improvise their own interactive behavior, including actions, gestures, and conversation, in real time. We introduce two of our imp characters, Max and Merlin. Both characters act as Web guides. Max currently guides visitors who wish to learn more about Extempo´s products and tools to www.extempo.com. Merlin guides visitors who want to visit the Web sites of shops, restaurants, and other enterprises on San Francisco´s Haight Street
